Electric rallycross debut for EKS JC - Isak Reiersen set for RX2e at Höljes

One of the most famous rallycross events in the world will take place next week, with Höljes in Sweden hosting the second round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (Aug 21-22), where EKS JC driver Isak Reiersen will make his debut in the brand new all-electric RX2e category.

Reigning World Champion Johan Kristoffersson and Enzo Ide will continue their campaigns in the headline RX1 category of World RX at Höljes, with rising talent, 17-year-old Reiersen joining EKS JC for the weekend.

Isak Reiersen has been a part of the team since 2017, first racing as one of two drivers for the JC Raceteknik Junior team before moving across to EKS JC this year. The Varmland driver is currently in midst of the RallyX Nordic Xtreme CrossCar title-fight, which will be concluded this weekend at Arvika in Sweden. Despite his age, Reiersen has solid credentials in Crosscar, including three third overall finishes in RallyX Nordic, two Swedish titles and one Swedish Championship runner-up position. He also has several Junior Rally victories in his locker, and as a 14-year-old, raced in rallycross in the RX Academy, but the Höljes weekend will mark both his four-wheel-drive and electric rallycross debuts.

Joel Christoffersson, KYB EKS JC Team Principal:
"It will be really fun to put Isak in a four-wheel-drive car to race in the new RX2e class. We’ve worked with him for several years now in Crosskart, so it will be fantastic to see him in rallycross and see what he can do there. Of course it will be tough for him to come straight from the Crosskart and with no experience of four-wheel-drive cars, but he has driven in some rallies and I think we can perform well. It’s also exciting for EKS JC that this is our electric car premiere, where we will learn more about this new format that’s coming into rallycross.”

Isak Reiersen (SWE), RX2e:
“This will be something to remember for the rest of my life. Getting this chance to drive these cars during the World RX weekend in Höljes is something I have dreamed of since I visited the event as a five-year-old. It will be the first time I’ve sat in a four-wheel-drive racing car and the fact that it is electric probably won’t make it easier. It’s an experience that I will really carry with me forward in my career. My expectations are to do my best. I know I can quickly get into a car, and once I’m on the start line, I always want to do as well as possible. I’ve spent most of the summer in a rally car, so the biggest challenge will probably be to become friends with the electric motors, to make the most of them. I want to thank EKS JC for this opportunity, as well as the sponsors have supported me to be able to drive.”
