Dubbel pallplats för JC Raceteknik under RallyX Norcid i Nysum, med Thomas Bryntesson och Ola Frøshaug

Stunning Supercar one-two for JC Raceteknik in Denmark with Bryntesson and Froshaug

Swedish rallycross team JC Raceteknik scored an emphatic one-two finish in the Danish round of the RallyX Nordic Championship at Nysumbanen (August 19) as Thomas Bryntesson claimed his second successive victory and Ola Froshaug secured a maiden Supercar podium.

The pair set the pace in Free Practice Two on Friday evening, before being second and third overall in Q1 to get the event off to a solid start. Further strong results in Q2 helped the JC Raceteknik duo to maintain their Intermediate Classifications, before 21-year old Bryntesson climbed to first overall after Q3.

Despite a spin in Q3 while attempting an outside-line overtake, Froshaug joined his team-mate on the grid for semi-final one, for a race where they again finished first and second to graduate to the final.

In all-important final, Bryntesson battled with Oliver Solberg before taking the lead and pulling a gap on second place. In challenging weather conditions, JC Raceteknik elected to use wet tyres, a decision that paid dividends and helped the reigning RallyX Nordic Supercar Lites Champion to score his second Supercar win.

Froshaug meanwhile climbed from the second row of the grid to finish the race second, his best-ever Supercar result and the first one-two for 27-year old Joel Christoffersson’s JC Raceteknik team; a dream result.

Victory extends Bryntesson’s lead in the standings to 20 points over rival Solberg, with two rounds of the series remaining.

The next event for the team will be the penultimate round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship and RX2 International Series at Loheac in France, in two weeks’ time (September 1 – 3).

Joel Christoffersson, Team Principal :
“Everything feels a bit unreal. It’s the first year for us in Supercar and that we can already achieve this kind of result is great. We are very, very happy and I'm so proud of the whole team. For our drivers, mechanics and everyone else who is working so hard to make this happen, this can be enjoyed by everyone. We struggled a bit in practice, and Oliver Solberg is really fast. But in the final we managed to put everything together. Thomas impressed as usual and showed once again what he is capable of, and Ola found amazing speed in the finals. It’s of course very good to extend the Championship lead. We have a 20-point advantage, but anything can happen. Now we have to tighten our belts, keep fighting and concentrate on trying to take the title.”

Supercar: Thomas Bryntesson (NOR)
“A first and second place is really fantastic for the whole team and I really want to give them the biggest prize now. That it would be so good, nobody believed that would be possible when we started the season in April. For me it was maximum points this weekend, it could not have been better. In the final I was behind Oliver Solberg. He went wide and I passed on the inside. It was tight in the following corners, but I came out on top and could increase the gap to second. The weather has been a challenge all weekend; there were a lot of changes back and forth between rain tyres and slicks, but in the finals we chose rain tyres and they worked well. My goal for the season is to win the Championship and to try and achieve that we will continue to do what we do; try to avoid unnecessary stupidities, be consistent and score good points.”

Supercar: Ola Froshaug (NOR) :
“This feels absolutely awesome. I have taken two fourth places in Supercar earlier this year, but this is the first podium for me. The pace is starting to come now and I’m very happy. I know that Thomas will probably always be faster than me on track, so to share the top of the podium with him is absolutely awesome. The team worked hard with me and the car has worked flawlessly. In one qualifying race I almost rolled, but we made it into the semi-finals, and there I had a little luck. I took my joker early and the four drivers ahead were fighting. We would probably have been third anyway, but we managed to finish second. I have climbed up in the Championship, which is of course positive. For the rest of the season, as usual, I aim to get to the semi-finals in every competition, and there everything can happen.”
