JC Raceteknik targets RallyX Nordic and Euro RX titles in 2018

Swedish rallycross team JC Raceteknik is targeting championship glory in both the FIA European Rallycross Championship and RallyX Nordic this season with a pair of Ford Fiesta Supercars and an unchanged line-up.

Norwegian Thomas Bryntesson graduated to the Supercar category for 2017 and won the RallyX Nordic Championship at his first attempt with JC Raceteknik. He also won the French round of the prestigious European Rallycross Championship to finish second overall.

Ola Froshaug will also continue in his dual-season programme with JC Raceteknik for 2018, driving a second 600 horsepower Ford Fiesta which has undergone development over the winter months at JC Raceteknik’s Kil workshops, near Karlstad in Sweden. Last year, in his maiden Supercar season, Froshaug finished 10th in Euro RX and fifth in the RallyX Nordic standings, which included his first Supercar podium finish.

JC Raceteknik will continue its collaboration with Team Verksted, while AD Sweden (AD Butik & Bilverkstad) will join the team as partner.

The first round of Euro RX takes place in Barcelona, Spain (14 – 15 April), before the opening round of the RallyX Nordic series takes place a week later (April 22) in Norway.

Joel Christoffersson, Team Principal :

“We’re very excited to start the season with the same Supercar driver line-up as last year. Thomas and Ola both had good debut seasons in Supercar last year; none of us could have expected to win the RallyX Nordic Championship and to be second in the European Championship in our first year. It will be fun to get started and to see what we face from the other teams. We’ve worked hard to develop the cars a lot and hope to fight for places in the final from the first round.”

Supercar Driver: Thomas Bryntesson (NOR) :

"I'm really looking forward to the season getting started and the goal is to fight for victory in both championships. 2017 was a very good season for me, it was my first year in Supercar and I was level with the best of the competition. Last year everything was new, so it’s good to know that we to go into the second year with a lot to build on. At the same time, everyone’s development is progressing rapidly. A lot can happen during the winter months, so it will be exciting to see how I compare with the other drivers. To stay sharp, I have been driving in some rallies in a Volvo 240 this winter. Obviously it’s different to a Supercar but it’s always good to have as much seat time as possible.”

Supercar Driver: Ola Froshaug (NOR) :

"It looked like I would retire from rallycross at the start of last year, but instead I did a full European Championship season. That’s the coolest thing I’ve done in my whole career. I’m very pleased to be able to drive for another season this year and I’m so excited that the races will start soon. Now we have one year of experience in the bag with the Supercar we know more what we can expect. Last season worked really well with the team - I learned a lot from Thomas and he learned a bit from me too. Now we have done some improvements to the cars, I have developed as a driver and the goal is to get a better result than last year.”
