Hoglund commits to full RallyX Nordic attack with JC Raceteknik

Swedish rallycross driver Marcus Hoglund will switch from competing in national-level competitions to racing a Supercar Lites in eight events with the JC Raceteknik team this season.

The 24-year old has previously made four selected appearances with the Varmland-based team. This year he embarks on a full programme in the six-round RallyX Nordic campaign, which visits Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, while he will also race in two rounds of the FIA World Rallycross Championship supporting RX2 International Series at Hell in Norway and Holjes in Sweden.

Hoglund began his rallycross career in 2011, racing in the 2150 Supernational category and claimed third overall in 2015. The following year, he switched to racing in the Swedish Rallycross Championship in the top 2400 division, while make his Supercar Lites debut the same year at Holjes, his home circuit.

He immediately impressed in the Lites car by setting top times and qualifying for the final, until slowed by gearbox problems. Last season, he raced in three events with JC Raceteknik. He made the semi-finals in the Hell and Holjes RX2 rounds, and also raced at Solvalla in RallyX Nordic.

For 2018, Hoglund is targeting front-running pace to challenge for top positions in events and overall in the RallyX Nordic Supercar Lites category.

The first RallyX Nordic round takes place at Holjes in two weeks (May 6).

"I've driven in rallycross for several years, including some races in Supercar Lites, but now I've come to a stage where it's time to really step up a level. I’m really looking forward to the season, it’s going to be a lot of fun. The first time I drove the Supercar Lites in Holjes went well beyond my expectations and I was racing at the front. Last year, it was a bit more difficult in the three races I drove in. I started getting to grips with the car in Solvalla, but then there was only one race left."

"This year I will get more tests before the first round to be better prepared. I think they biggest challenge to succeed at the top and to always perform will be to not be nervous or lose focus. The competition will be very tough because more and more drivers are signing up and the level gets higher. I won’t take the final places for granted, there are so many drivers targeting the championship, but I'll definitely fight to be in there too.”
